21-year-old Code for Cape Town alumni, Mandisa Dlubom joined Responsive Tech as an intern earlier this year and we’re so grateful that she did. We asked her a few questions and her answers reveal why she has been such a good fit and how having her with us has been more than mutually beneficial. What a woman!
“Hi Responsive Studio, we’re hosting a 10-day International film festival and we need full coverage from the first session in the morning to the very last salt rimmed cocktail in the evening… do you think your team is up for it?”
Cameras. Cocktail parties. Celebrity crushes...
Were we up for it?
You BET we were.
Our phenomenal team of 8 people captured over 40 videos and 1000 high-quality photographs which we shared on social media a mere hour or two after the event took place.
We became human machines, we earned a 207.7% increase in followers across all the channels and we loved every moment of it.
So what is the Cape Town International Film Festival?
The Cape Town Film Festival (CTIFMF) is a world-class event that celebrates the art of film.
It also provides a platform to connect local filmmakers and international production treaty partners. This means our talented local actors, producers, and directors are able to explore opportunities with people from all around the world.
The festival has been listed for 2 years in a row as one of the leading film festivals in the world by International Film Guide. It’s a big deal and it brings international traction to the City of Cape Town.
2017 was the 10th year of the festival and the biggest yet. It combined forces with the Chinese Film industry and South African celebs like Sharlto Copley, Pearl Thusi, Maps Maponyane attended (to name drop just a few!).
The Challenge /Brief
Capture main events, interviews, vox pops, B-roll and cutaways to craft a well documented narrative of the happenings in video format.
Photograph and record live content creation and social media management during the duration of event.
- 150 + photo’s delivered and over 1000 taken
- Average of 40 Instagram stories per day
- We released 43 top class videos covering every part of the festival.

How we implemented it
We had 8 in the team that went to CTIFMF and this team did all the production, social media, photography and videography.
